Profile of the Month
May
2008, Dicky
Hulcher
To all EZ member
profile followers, I apologize for dropping the
ball the last 2 months. It definitely does not
mean we have run out of stories. There are
literally hundreds more to tell. For May I have
chosen Dicky Hulcher’s story, as told by Dicky
himself in a letter to Madge. I have also
included the progress of his daughter, Jennifer,
who is doing fantastic in weight management.
Both Dicky and his daughter can be seen
regularly working out in the gym or on the
ellipticals and in the continuation classes. Dicky
and Jennifer’s determination and pleasant
natures make them an inspiration for all.
Congratulations Dicky, who to date has lost 65
lbs.!!! And Jennifer, who has lost 35!!!! ---mjg
Dicky
Hulcher began the weight management program in
January of 2008. Over the years, said Dicky, he
slowly put on a few pounds, even though he led a
very busy life as an owner of Hodgman’s Inc.
Commercial Flooring and also as a single Dad and
full time girls volleyball coach for Douglas
Freeman High School. Being in athletics, Dicky
was always aware of the importance of training
and staying in shape, not just for weight
control but in order to keep his metabolism and
energy level up and maintain his health. After
coaching his two children through high school,
he decided to do something for himself and
joined EZ after a friend referred us. “It was
the best decision I ever made,” said Dicky. I
haven’t had a 34 pants waist since high school.
At
the encouragement of her father, Dicky’s
daughter Jennifer joined the weight management
program in March 2008. Jennifer, a VCU class of
2006 graduate and a psychology major, also led a
busy life as a Sales Associate for UPS and as an
amateur photographer (seems we have many
talented artists here at EZ). Many of you who
have seen the pair in the gym, however, may have
been wondering who was coaching who. Jennifer
comes on her Dad’s continuation nights to spot
him on weights, keep him company on the
elliptical and cheer him on in general. Dicky
does the same for his daughter. The result, they
both come dutifully about 5 times a week. And
that kind of teamwork has really paid off for
both of them.
Dicky’s May letter to Madge below sums up
his EZ progress:
Dear Dr. Zacharias
Many thanks for your
wonderful “Make It Personal” adult weight
management class. Your unique blend of
educational and motivational lectures combined
with well- supervised
weight lifting and cardio workouts has provided
the structure I needed to channel the willpower
and determination that I always knew that I had.
The results continue
to have a profound effect on the quality of my
life. My blood pressure, blood glucose and
triglyceride levels have retreated to normal
levels while my fitness level leaps forward
daily! Having lost more than fifty pounds and
eight inches of my waistline, I get compliments
daily. My energy levels are at an all-time high
and I feel great every day!
Your exceptional staff
makes me look forward to every visit.
Professional, friendly and down to earth, they
all do a wonderful job working with members of
all ages and performance levels to help each
person achieve maximum results.
Your program’s
intelligent approach, skilled staff and an
attitude that reflects your passion and deep
commitment to helping all achieve their goals
makes this a very “doable” program that I would
strongly recommend to anyone.
